Patricia Specializes in

Patricia Smith is a registered social worker and a certified family and divorce mediator. She has been in private practice since 2000 with Haven of Hope Counselling Centre. A successful counselling facility that she co-founded. Patricia has extensive experience in the areas of individual, couples and family counselling and she has trained in the area of intensive sex therapy.
She has previously been involved in the field of children’s mental health.
Other areas of service include victims assist with the OPP, working with persons with
terminal illness and research and advocacy for
those with mental illness. Patricia has completed
a five year study with the centre for self-directed
learning in cognitive human behavior. She has
studied brain domination as it relates to human
behavior and is currently working on a
comprehensive and innovative approach to
premarital counselling, with a view to reducing
the chance of divorce for those couples who take
part. Patricia has been successful in providing
management training in the corporate field to
facilitate harmonious working environments
and providing understanding of human dynamics
within the work place.
Patricia takes a client centred approach to
working with clients in that she places each one
of them within the context of their own lives
and helps them take a holistic view of their
challenges. Her goal is to work with clients to
define their blockages in achieving harmony
within their own realities and to find solutions
that will work for them for the betterment of
their unique situations. Helping clients to move
beyond their pain, elevate their self-esteem and
to feel powerful in their daily living is the
ultimate goal of all her interventions.
